Eclipse Trail Ride

August 21, 2017 @ 10:30 am - 1:30 pm

Total Eclipse of the Trail

On Monday, August, 21, 2017, experience the first total solar eclipse viewable in Missouri in nearly 150 years! The Great American Total Solar Eclipse will trail across the United States along a stretch of land only 70 miles wide.

Sedalia is considered a prime viewing location. People who descend upon this “path of totality” for the big event are in for an unforgettable experience. Celebrate this rare event with us beginning at 10:30am at the Trails End Landmark on the Missouri State Fairgrounds. Festivities will include a horseback trail ride on the KATY Trail, exclusive tours of the Landmark, Horseshoe Pitching, Cow Chip Toss, Cow Patty Bingo, food, drink, music, and much more.

Eclipse Trail Ride

The featured event for the Total Eclipse of the Trail is a two hour horseback ride on the Katy Trail. Because Katy Trail State Park is located in the “path of totality” of this historic eclipse, it will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride the trail and experience “Darkness during Daylight.”

The trail ride will begin at 10:30am on the southwest corner of the Missouri State Fairgrounds at the Katy Access Point located on Clarendon Rd. Riders will head west on the trail and return approximately one hour later with the ride officially ending at the Trails End Landmark. Horse trailers can be parked in Lot 9.

A $20.17 registration fee includes complimentary solar eclipse safety glasses, a beverage ticket, event bandanna, and a chance to win a limited edition bronze statue.

The trail ride is sponsored by Von Holten Ranch. For more information contact Brandy Von Holten at 660-668-0880.
